OUR PASTOR

 

 

Reverend Eddie Potlow was born November 14, 1958, in Greenville, Mississippi. His parents, Louis and Myrtis, were charitable benefactors in their community and to whom he credits for his own integrity, discipline, and faith in God. He is the second child of nine siblings. His family moved to Pontiac, Michigan in 1961. In his adult life, Eddie Potlow lived for some years in Alabama. While in Huntsville, Alabama, he met Sharalyn Brown. They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1994. He became a licensed minister in 1995 at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where Dr. Ricky L. Sykes is Pastor. While under this great pastors leadership, Reverend Potlow served on the Board of Education, as Youth Director, a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Teacher for the Flint River District Association. He also attended Huntsville Baptist Institute.

 

In 1998, his family moved back to Pontiac, Michigan. He attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. To further his spiritual education, he attended Midwestern Bible College graduating ‘’magna cum laude’’ in 2000 with a Bachelors in Religious Education. He and his family joined New Springfield Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Linworth Miner. He was ordained 2001. While serving faithfully and faintlessly, he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Wednesday Midday Bible Study Teacher, and Director of Christian Education, Youth Minister and Instructor for the Wolverine State Convention YPD Spring Conference. He is a yearly teacher for the Wolverine State Spring Session Adult Class in Saginaw, Mi. In 2005, the Crystal Lake District honored him for his community involvements. In 2006, he was honored by the Women’s Auxiliary of Wolverine State for his work with youth ministry for the Crystal Lake District.  Also in 2006, God blessed Reverend Potlow to receive his Master’s Degree in Religious Education from Midwestern Bible Seminary.

 

Reverend Potlow dedicated his life to the call of the ministry. One of his favorite scriptures is, ‘’He that winneth souls is wise.’’ Proverbs 11:30.While serving as a youth director for Crystal Lake district, he has organized a various soul winning opportunities as well as opportunities to witness through youth summits and testimonial dinners. He is responsible for initiating two food bank programs at Community Bible Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Warren H. Lawrence and at New Springfield MBC. In July, 2007, Reverend Potlow founded irst Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church.

 

Pastor currently lives in Pontiac, Michigan with his wife, Sharalyn, who has been in nursing for 18 years and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Oakland University. Their two daughters, Karyn age 14 and Makaila age 18 are both A students and hard workers in the church.

 

Pastor Potlow’s knows his purpose in his life to serve the Lord diligently, faithfully and obediently.
